Updated October 8, 2026. This page shows what homes rent for in each market Eastern Properties Group serves. Each figure combines the vacancy listings 28 local property management companies publish on their own websites, current listings on Apartment List, Rent.com and ApartmentFinder (Apartments.com network), and the rents on the homes we manage: 2,058 rental listings in the last three months. A home listed in more than one place counts once, and an apartment community counts once for each size of unit it offers. We do not use Zillow or home sale websites.

How to read these numbers
- Typical rent is the median asking rent for that size of home among the listings in the area in the last three months. Half asked more and half asked less.
- Usual range covers the middle half of those listings, so a quarter asked less than the low figure and a quarter asked more than the high one.
- We collect listings every month. A listing counts if it was up at any point in the last three months. A home listed in several places counts once, and an apartment community counts once for each size of unit it offers, at its advertised price. We began collecting on October 7, 2026, so changes over time appear once enough history builds up.
- A figure marked * is an estimate: fewer than 3 listings of that size were found in the area, so it comes from the same size of home in the rest of the county or region, adjusted to the area’s overall rent level.
- Utilities are monthly costs worked out from each utility’s and local government’s published rates for a typical 2-bedroom home: 850 kWh of electricity (BGE’s average residential use), 60 therms of gas (Columbia Gas’s average residential customer) and about 4,500 gallons of water. Electric supply is the utility’s standard offer price; gas supply is the month’s price on the Maryland Public Service Commission’s gas fact sheet. Homes that heat with electricity, oil or propane will see different numbers.
- A single home’s rent depends on bedrooms, condition, parking, utilities included and the block it sits on. These figures are a starting point, not a quote.

Where do the rent figures on this page come from?
From the vacancy listings 28 local property management companies publish on their own websites, current listings on Apartment List, Rent.com and ApartmentFinder (Apartments.com network), and the rents on the homes we manage. We do not use Zillow or other home sale websites.
How often is the Maryland rent report updated?
Listings are collected every month and the page is rebuilt every quarter. The update date is printed at the top. When a new local management company or rental website starts publishing listings for these markets, it is added after its listings are checked.
Why do some figures have an asterisk?
In smaller markets, fewer than 3 listings of some sizes turn up during the quarter. Rather than leave a gap, we estimate those from the same size of home in the rest of the county or region, adjusted to the local rent level, and mark them.
Does Eastern Properties Group set rents from these numbers?
No. They are one input. A rent recommendation for a specific home also looks at the property record, condition, bedroom count, included utilities and the rents of comparable homes we manage nearby.
What do utilities cost in these markets?
Each section lists typical monthly electric, natural gas, water and sewer and trash costs for a 2-bedroom home, worked out from the rates Potomac Edison, BGE, Columbia Gas of Maryland and each city, town or county publish. Totals run from about $351 to $457 a month.
