Setting up a new place involves a handful of calls nobody enjoys making. Here is who to contact in our service area, and the things worth knowing before you move in.
Who to call to turn everything on
Utilities are the tenant’s responsibility unless your lease says otherwise. Get them set up before your move-in date so you are not arriving to a place with no power.

Internet and Phone
Verizon, Breezeline, and Xfinity all serve parts of the area. Availability varies street by street, so check your specific address before you commit to a plan.
Renters insurance
If your lease requires renters insurance, you need a policy in place before move-in. It covers your belongings and your liability. Your landlord’s policy covers the building, not your things.
We do not sell insurance and we receive nothing for referrals, so shop it however you like.
Before you dig
Planting, fencing, or any digging on the property requires a utility locate first. Contact Miss Utility at missutility.net or call 811.
This is free, and it is required by law.
Know your rights
Maryland publishes a Tenants’ Bill of Rights covering applications, security deposits, repairs, entry, and eviction. We hand a copy to every tenant at lease signing.
It is worth reading before you apply anywhere, not just with us.
Where to get help in the area
Being a good resident is easier when you know who to call. These are public services, not ours, and using any of them has nothing to do with your tenancy. We will never know you looked.
The utility and transit entries below are Allegany County. If you rent from us in the Baltimore area, 211 covers the whole state and is the fastest way to find the local equivalent, or just ask us and we will point you at the right office.
